  • ?ukasz Rogala: As I can see now Google shows about 80 characters for URLs in SERPs.
  • Rick Molenaar: 1. Spaces in url don't always work well, so you better make it:
    Domain.com/seo-services.html

    2. I'll advise to only use one subfolder. It looks more decent to me, but I'm not sure if it will affect rankings.

    3. Seems too long to me. Not whole the URL will show up in the SERPs and is not user-friendly. The date is quite unnecessary if you ask me. Also you can shorten

    without being less clear.
  • Ranu Jain: Yes, it does. There is no official maximum length, but it is recommended to avoid URLs over 255 characters.

    Long and overly complex URLs may cause crawling issues. The lesser the words the more value each word receives from a search engine bot. Also, a short URL is quicker to type and read. And thus, the better CTR. ;
  • Rohan Kagalkar: Ok I got it. Thank you all for the answers
  • Justin Y: I'm not sure about the lesser the words the more value each keyword will have, I've never heard of that. To throw in my two cents, I always recommend building links based on structure. I do believe shorter can be better but that's not always the case. If you're topic is SEO services than seo-services would be appropriate, but if you plan on stretching the topic /seo-services/keyword(s) might be the better solution.

  • Ranu Jain: Hey +Justin Y, I also read it a few days back. Refer to this link in case you would like to read: ;http://blog.woorank.com/2013/05/url-optimization-5-best-practices-for-seo/
  • Justin Y: Thanks but I think you should have written
    your comment a little differently, more OP
    based. Woo is implying the basic SEO rule that applies to titles, most important keywords first. They did say more value is assigned to each word when using less, but that I have not heard of and I find to be untrue.

  • Rohan Kagalkar: Thanks +Justin Y ;I agree with you. Everyone recommends the less words in the url but its not always possible.
