Wordpress migration to HTTPS domai

Hi all,
I am migrating a wordpress http://www domain to a secure https://www domain. Besides making and verifying new webmastertools (preferred domain etc.), new analytics account and new sitemaps, I am preparing a 301 redirect of all urls from old to new.

Now I wondered if it would be sufficient to do a toplevel 301 redirect only OR is it advisable to redirect every single urls manually on top of that? I am using a wordpress plugin that allows me to redirect single urls.

#migrate   #https

  • Toni Anicic: What I would do is put rel canonical on http versions of URL to point to https versions. If that's not possible, do the 301 redirect, but not just for homepage, do it for all URLs. You don't need a plugin to do that, it's pretty easy to do a wildcard redirect from .htaccess file that would redirect all http to https, just Google it.
  • Rajeshwar Reddy: If domain name remains same and only change is http to https, you could add a code to .htaccess. That code will redirect any triffic coming to http to https. Here is the url

  • Roy ODK: The .htaccess it will be. It's indeed seems the nicest solution and most effective solution. Thx both.
