Should I nofollow menu links?

Hello all,
Should I nofollow menu links?
I have seen many a times that google shows all or some menu anchortexts as description in SERP inspite having a meta description and many a times it annoys me because it looks bad and also not relevant. One more reason is Google picks 1 page for several services from the menu; like when I search fema valuation, ESOP valuation or intangible valuation the result is always Business Valuation page. In snipet these all words comes from menu.

I think I should nofollow those menu links and let the search engine only follow the actual internal links in body which have proper anchortexts and high degree of relevancy. PLEASE ENLIGHTEN

  • Jim Munro: I am not an expert, Neeraj, but I cannot think of any case to justify a nofollow menu link within your site. A noindex tag can be used for pages that you do not want indexed but googlebot has to be allowed to proceed to the page in order to read the noindex metatag.

You can use nofollow on links to external sources to your heart's content but I don't think even that is good practice unless specifically required for uses such as paid advertising links.
