Will Google show the snippet in serp without a high rank and reputation?

  MikS Music for Video and Business Use: I've been doing some research on rich snippets (or actually why my snippets not appearing in serp) and there is a popular opinion that the snippets now need to be "earned". That is, even if your markup is correct, and the structured data tool reports no errors AND actually shows the snippet, Google still may not show the snippet in serp unless your site has high rank and reputation. What do you think?
