  Mitchell Schaffer: I work with a lot of clients who are all in the same industry.  ;They pay me to create content for them.  ;Thus far, I am writing all original content for each client.  ;That tends to get expensive for  ;them and I would like to offer a lower cost option to them.  ;I thought about having some "Stock" content that I would write and make available to all of my clients.  ;Because I would be spreading the cost over many clients, the content could be made available to them at a significantly lower cost.
  
  My obvious question is How is Google going to view this?  ;Will some of my clients get "spanked" because it would technically be Duplicate content?  ;
  
  If I were listed as the author of these articles on all of these sites, would that help to circumvent this?  ;I know this is a hot topic and there are many opinions.  ;I welcome any input that you have.

  John Griffith: Hi +Mitchell Schaffer it's duplicate content as you describe it. The first page indexed with the content would get the value of the content. Additional iterations unlikely to get much visibility. If Google felt gaming was going on ALL iterations could get bounced. It also might be impacted by the total amount of content on each site and the placement of the copy in the directory structure. I'm probably missing some other stuff but im sure other people will have ideas. Maybe use your 'syndicated copy' in newsletters rather then Web copy?

  As long as your duplicate content is there for legitimate reasons, you really shouldn't be concerned about duplicate content. However, Google certainly can and will take action against sites utilizing duplicate content in a spammy fashion, because they aren't adding value to the search results.
  
  There are lot of unique ways to get the creative contents for each of your clients.

  Edwin Jonk: The process you describe sounds like a process you can scale. That is, you are building content for multiple sites quite easily at a low cost. This is exactly what Google seems to penalize these days. ;

  Mikita Shah: Unless and until your content is unique you need not have to worry about the site being penalized. Originality is what matters the most. Duplicate content is always considered as spam and for that you need to be assured that you are making a good deal.

  However could you not create the content and make it an image /infographic or a pdf and upload it to your clients webpages. It would have little to no SEO benefit but would allow you to share duplicated content without damaging your clients websites.  ;
