How to go about "re-posting" or "re-publishing" the articles that I previously wrote.

  Matt Kohn: Hi all - I have a question that I hope doesn't have too complicated of an answer. In the past few months I have been a contributing author for a website - I wrote and edited the articles and they were posted.
  
  I am in process of launching my own website and was wondering how to go about "re-posting" or "re-publishing" the articles that I previously wrote. I spoke with the site owner and he told me that it would be fine but that I am only able to post the first few paragraphs of the original articles otherwise Google will "punish my site's SEO".
  
  What is the best way to go about doing this? I wrote and composed the original articles so I am not worried about ethical problems rather am concerned about my SEO rankings. ;
  FYI: My site is currently not live and in construction mode on WordPress.

  Richard Foulkes: Hey +Matt Kohn ;You can use the whole article in your own site if you use something called a canonical tag. What that basically means to search engines is this isn't my content or there is similar content elsewhere. So for example ;<link rel="canonical" href="http://www.example.com/dresses/greendress.html"> Webmasters will help with this: ;https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/139066?hl=en. I'd also place a link at the bottom of each content stating (this content originally appeared on etc) giving a link back to the original content this makes it obvious you aren't copying and duplicating the content!
  
  If you are really conscious of causing problems you can no-index the page. If you download +Yoast ;SEO plugin for wordpress (free) You can do all of these things. I hope that helps a little!

  Richard Foulkes: Not a problem the search engines have no problem with sites using duplicate content as long as you tell them, think of all the news sites that do it! and still achieve good rankings, if you need anymore help feel free to give me a shout
