What is the best method for redirecting?

Ok, I have an interesting one, I have a website running with good authority score and I wish to add a blog to the site. However because of constraints, it has to be on a separate server what is the best method for redirecting so it looks seamless, I also can`t use a subdomain.

For example

mywebsitedotcom/myblog

my blog is on a separate server from themywebsitedotcom and I can`t use a subdomain.

  • Suraj Gadage: +Mike Cooke ;An easy way to do this use a subdomain, but in your case it's not possible. If you want to use a subdirectory, then one way is to use an .htaccess file. You can have a 301 redirect that redirects your server IP to the server where you want to host your blog on. But one problem with this method is users will see the IP address in the address bar which is not recommended.

Another solution could be set up Apache to act as a proxy. This system requires some advanced programming and you need to consult with technical team. We basically configure a system where requests to the specified subfolder would be passed on to the new web server.

    Hope this helps!

However since you cannot create a sub-domain, I guess you don't have access to the server. Therefore, I would move the site to a server that can support your site and a blog, instead of paying for multiple servers.
