Does numbers in domain names hurt my ranking?

I´ve got a number in my domain name. Does numbers in domain names hurt my ranking possibilities? Is it for example harder to rank sport247.com than mysport.com

  • Martin Nørgaard: I´ve got a number in my domain name. Does numbers in domain names hurt my ranking possibilities? Is it for example harder to rank sport247.com than mysport.com
  • Edwin Jonk: No. There was a bias with regard to Exact Match Domains (EMD) or keyword domains. However after the EMD update in 2012 this positive bias towards EMD's was removed.
  • Kyle Hawk: Just a side note, robots may not care, but people do. As a user, I'm more likely to remember mysport.com rather than sport247.com. I'd be talking about it and probably say something like, "It's sport something with some numbers after it." Not a critical thing, just keeping an open mind. :)
