Variation between the http and the https

Why am I seeing differing links? Hi all, Using wordpress and using a backlink tool noticed a variation between the http and the https. Does this mean I haven`t done the redirect correctly? Many thanks

  • Paul Thompson: No, it`s an indication of the fact that some folks wrote links to your site back when it was using HTTP and those links will stay that way on their site unless they go back and hand-edit them (which is highly unlikely.) As long as your site properly redirects all HTTP URLs to their HTTPS counterpart, the ranking authority of those backlinks will pass along to the new URLs.
  • Alan Bleiweiss: What matters is internally as long as your system was migrated properly, ensuring one-to-one server redirects (301 status) for every page, then the numbers you`re seeing in your backlink tool check are not important or anything to be concerned about. Any backlink tool out there, even Google`s own data for inbound links, is going to be wonky for a range of reasons.
