  Aaron Katz: Does anyone know a freelancer or consultant that can help my dad's dental practice with SEO and marketing strategy?  ;Unfortunately, the budget is pretty low (under $500), but what we are mainly looking for is:
  
  * What changes should we make to the website
  * Assistance with keyword research
  * Best way to use AdWords or Yelp etc, or if that is even necessary

  Jim Munro: Many SEO's here talk in terms of "per month", Aaron. I'm guessing this is a once-off and there is nothing wrong with that but I just want to qualify.

  Jim Munro: I understand. I reckon the best deal going is to DIY and ask the hard questions here. Once you have achieved what you are looking for, you could donate $500 to your favourite charity and everybody would feel great about it. :)

  So there's money involved... Well, for what he wants and needs, no one will do it for free. Sure, he can ask questions, which I'll/we'll gladly answer, but he will need to ask 3000 of them, and proper ones, if he wants to really optimize his website.
  
  I guess he wants to hire someone because he doesn't want to lose more time.

  +Blade S I was once in a bind and +Ian Wortley built my website for free and despite all my efforts to pay him anything he has ignored them.
  +Yext Google adwords and yellow pages are some affordable options.I think +GoDaddy might be another affordable way to go.
  Also there are many free tools like SEM rush and have somebody smarter speak about Google Analytics and webmaster tools.Dont forget about bing and yahoo.

  Steven Ciccantelli: +Aaron Katz and of course a google mybusiness page is a must.I checked out the prices of the 3d photography and it was about 350.00.So with the 50.00 for +Moz Local you still have 100.00 under budget.
  Use this 100.00 to buy a scanner then scan the business license to +Acxiom Corporation and oh I am still waiting but it seems that it verifies my business.

  Steven Ciccantelli: +Aaron Katz or use that 100.00 to get a +WordPress premium blog site and use that to create unique content or establish that you are a leading expert in your field.
  Link that to your website some other smart people can explain to you about authorship and other difficult subjects.Start using this profile and follow people like +Tim Capper +martin shervington etc perhaps +Johnny Base +Jim Munro and a plethora of others and just read and blog away.

  Point being that I am not sure how important social media is but best to err on this side of caution and promote your business on every other platform you can think of including Facebook and twitter.

You've been working hard here on google plus and it's great to see people who embrace ;autodidactism. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autodidacticism It;s really the only way anyone ever figures out any of this stuff. lots of late nights and hours in front of a radiating monitor.   Yes it is trial and error and sometimes making very costly mistakes but the free info that I glean from G+ priceless.

I speak to them every now and then and many seem a little desperate to get on page one but their budgets are a bit tight. You sould make a SEO dvd or website just for taxi drives and charge $150 a for your step by step program to get on page one. I bet you would sell a bunch ;
