Calls for SEO Code of Ethics - So What Is Ethical?

Standards before ethics? What about principles?

Many SEO`s discuss the principle of being an ethical SEO and what it means. It is somewhat of an chicken versus egg story, namely Michael Martinez argues:

" how does one behave ethically in an industry without standards? "

This is correct but I think Michael made a thought mistake throughout the article. Namely the code of ethics are the principles and standards together. The principles define what should happen and the standards define how it should be solved.

Although I do not believe industry wide standards that can be set by ISO will be beneficial, it is an interesting article. Jim Munro   I am so impressed with the way you think sometimes, Edwin. I think you might be light years ahead of the rest of us. :)

I agree. Can I add that I think the other mistake made here was to forget what the SEO Industry does for a living. To suggest that all should follow a set of published rules makes me think of a procession of rubber ducks  in a shooting gallery waiting for Google to shoot them down.? .@sempoglobal Calls for SEO Code of Ethics - So What Is Ethical?
