Do you pay much attention to ranking in Bing/Yahoo/other Search engines?

Hi all,

Do you pay much attention to ranking in Bing/Yahoo/other Search engines - are there any techniques that work better for them compared to Google?

Would trying to please their algorithms hinder work that you`re doing to please Google? I`m assuming many of the factors are similar, but we have seen good strides on Google during the past 12 months or so, but are slipping in Bing/Yahoo judging by analytics...I also can`t find a decent way to track keywords in these search engines...

I`m also finding things are going backwards for Google rankings, I appreciate that this is the nature of SEO, but seems like I`m knocking my head against a wall at the moment. Added a lot of content to websites that is richer than before, they`re now responsive, site speed has improved, but it seems to be the link building we`re struggling with. Any tips to help out in this regard or to help keep things fresh?!

Any help appreciated and sorry for the long-winded message!

Cheers?

  • Blade S: Bing shouldn't be ignored. A lot of people are using it.

Bing's ranking factors aren't so different from Google's. Usually, if you rank on Google, you rank on Bing as well.

Sometimes you rank on Bing, but not on Google, like I'm experiencing with one of my sites.

One of the other sites I work on, ranks on both. So, follow Google's Guidelines and you'll be fine with Bing.

It makes sense that Bing can't be so different from Google because you can't apply different techniques on one site. It would have been one way or the other.

I do think that Bing doesn't focus on backlinks that much. Not as much as Google anyway, so if you have good on-page optimization and content, you can rank on Bing faster than on Google.

I'm saying this based on one of my websites, like I pointed out above. I haven't done much link building to it, that's why it isn't ranking on Google yet, but it does on Bing.

I know it's frustrating to have a website with great and responsive design, good speed, great content, etc., and not rank... Such sites are released every day, but only a handful make it. SEO is about a lot of patience, dedication, and work.

The good news is that, if everything's looking good on-page, like you say it does, you won't need much backlinks, as long as they're relevant.

Backlinks still have enormous power in SEO, so try and build them (in the right manner) or get them in an organic/natural way (through great content and exposure).
