Rebranding penalty

A client did a very rash rebrand around 4 weeks ago only to find that the new brand name has already been registered in a key foreign market. If rebranding with a new name so soon after the last time will he be penalised by Google?

  • Michael Martinez: "If rebranding with a new name so soon after the last time will he be penalised by Google?"

No. There is no risk of a penalty.

But it will take Google time to follow the links and connect all the dots.

  • Amanda Fong: Michael Martinez thank you!

  • Perry Bernard: Yep will just be a flip-flop and possible delay for Google to reassign value, strictly assuming your redirects are all in place.
