Question about 410s

hi guys! Question about 410s.If I delete a page and don`t 410 it, does google naturally recognize it as gone and stop crawling that particular page? or Should I be 410-ing my pages that are gone? and how do I actually 410 a page on wordpress? Didn`t get clear steps on how to 410 a page on google. thanks pros!

Michael Martinez: Google will crawl dead URLs for years as long as it continues to find links pointing to them.
Jaden Oh Yauming: oh my i didnt know that. will definately 410 removed pages then. Is there any plug-ins you`d recommend to do this? I tried looking for solutions online but surprisingly couldn`t find steps to 410 pages.
Michael Martinez: If it`s not many pages just redirect with a 410 status code to the root URL of the site in your ".htaccess" file.
