  • Perry Bernard: Are you saying the rest of the site is indexed but the post isn’t? If not, does your website have a dynamic sitemap and is it submitted in Google Search Console? You can also fetch the page in Google Search Console to request indexing. If there is some barrier, that will also be reported in GSC as a response.

  • Shawna Clark: Perry Bernard yes the site was indexed when I launched it but the posts go live and don’t show up for a week or two after they go live. How do I fix that? Thanks!

  • Shawna Clark: Perry Bernard also I barely understand this stuff lol

  • Michael Martinez: Publishing more often may help. If you`re already publishing 1 or more posts per day or week, then it could be the algorithms are not scoring the content of your posts very well.

If your site runs slowly that would impact the crawling schedule.

If your site returns a lot of errors when it is crawled, that will slow down the discovery process via wasted fetches. It might also break crawl pathways between pages that are live.

If you haven`t verified the site with Google Search Console and Bing Toolbox, you should. You might have a manual action (a penalty).

If your site was hacked, the search engines may not trust it. Verifying with Bing Toolbox and Google Search Console at least gives you a chance to see if they have found a problem.

  • Shawna Clark: Michael Martinez thank you! I only post once a week... yes that was one of the first thing that I did when I launched my site is the site map... Could it be anything else? Also I published 12 posts before I launched my site and then launched my site with the 12 posts I published before launching and none of them are showing up in search. I re published them last week so far they are not showing up either . Thanks !

  • Michael Martinez: Shawna Clark Well, Google admitted this week they have a bug in their crawling system that mistakes live content for "soft 404" URLs. I guess you could look for an indication in your Google Search Console account that they have this problem with your site.

It`s supposedly rare so I would not expect to find any problem for most sites. But it might be worth checking out.

Other than that, I can`t think of anything obvious off the top of my head. Hopefully other people can suggest possible causes for you to investigate.
