De-index-ing author, categories and labels via robots

Hello, do you think it is good to de-index author, categories and labels via robots or yoast ?. Applying this will help me reduce duplicate content and content cannibalization?Have the tags and author reduce the google share?Thanks for your answers, I know this will help more users.

Perry Bernard: I think the question is about whether you have / are using Post Tags and s and if finding their archives is useful for your users. By using Yoast, your content is Canonicalised already. There might be other responses so check back in.
Jim Munro: Both duplicate content and content cannibalization should not be a concern to anybody. They are timewasters. I think it might be perfectly possible to be successful in life without ever thinking of either again.
