Minimizing the code to improve the load time

What do you guys think about minimizing the code on the .php file to improve the load time for a site? I did that with the CSS code and saw an improvement, so it made me start thinking if I could do that with the .php file as well.

Victor Castillejos: PHP file doesn't make much sense. However minimizing of the HTML code that is produced by your PHP script is important.
