Is it worth buying a domain name for blogger?

  Comical Folly: Hi, can blogger crash with high traffic and can it get hacked? People say buy hosting and use Wordpress because of those reasons and you get better seo? I prefer the free option using blogger though. Is it worth buying a domain name for blogger what are the benefits? Thanks :)  ;

  Blogger is one of the better platforms, so is WP.
  
  Buying your on hosting may help you rank better, but I bet a paid host would have more downtime than blogger.

  Comical Folly: I share funny content. I see a few other sites doing it, thought I'd give it a go. I want to try to earn from the site, I know it will take a while, I may never get there but I also enjoy doing it. So keeping it as a hobby and learning I can't lose :D

  Ligatures.Net: Blogger can deal with heavy traffic. If you have some concerns about performance, you can always move your site behind CloudFlare, it is free, but I believe you would need your own URL (so here is a benefit).

  Lori Eldridge: Buying a domain involves purchasing hosting. If you are just wanting to use the site as a hobby then you might want to stick with the free version of WP. Also you can't "share" funny content on a website due to copyright issues and also a Panda penalty for duplicate content, even if you have permission from the owner. However, sharing is accepted ; on Youtube, Facebook or similar sites. Best to write your own content when you own the website.

  Comical Folly: I use blogger and it allows me to share videos and images. I write my own variations of articles too. Why do I see so many sites doing the same?

  Julio Marquez: if you are going to publish new fresh content on blogger , it will rank good as far a blogger is supported by google, but in case you will just publish duplicated content you will be risk to lose every thing because Google have a full control to suspend  ;your blog.Good optimized wordpress theme too is good to start and Google loves it,however there are many supporting plugins that can help you manage your blog, i wish this can help. ;
