I`m thinking to change the URLs to a simpler conventio
I have a handful of posts created on Wordpress and am thinking to change their slugs/URLs to a simpler convention.
Old way: domain.com/long-post-title-about-cafe1
New way: domain.com/cafe1
1. Does this matter much for SEO? Sometimes the slug would be identical to the keyword of the post, but certainly not for all posts. The full title is more descriptive, but I thought it feels way more organized to go by the name of the place instead.
The site gets little traffic, so I`m not worried about setting up 301 redirects for people attempting to access old URLs.
2. Aside from obviously updating any internal links referencing these posts, are there any other actions to take? I`m using Rank Math which I guess should take care of the sitemaps? Is Google Search Console going to fish slap me for changing URLs or penalize me in any other ways?
Thanks!
