I need advice about the ideal structure of a BLOG

Hey beautiful people, I need advice about the ideal structure of a BLOG, and from the articles I have read, it should in the form of a PYRAMID with the following levels;1.Home page 2.Categories 3. Posts and PagesSo from the above, it seems that the main Navigation Menu should strictly comprise of category pages, MY CONFUSION is about other important stand alone like "CONTACT US" & " ABOUT US" which I feel should be linked to from the Main navigation Menu, IS IT FINE IN TERMS OF SEO and BLOG STRUCTURE to add a Contact us page and About Us page in the Main navigation Menu alongside Blog category pages? Will it still be a PYRAMID structure if I do that? Is it a must that the Main navigation Menu of a BLOG should only Link to category pages?

  • Michael Martinez: Put important page links to "About Us", "Contact Us", etc. in the main navigation or in a sitewide widget in a sidebar or the page footer. You do NOT have to include all categories in main navigation, especially if you have a lot of categories. You can create an HTML sitemap page and link to that in your sitewide navigation. List all the category and author archives there.
  • Perry Bernard: If you prioritise for how real people can find what they want to find then chances are your structure is also right for SEO. It must be usable, first and foremost. Two key summary terms: discoverability and internal links. These are highly connected ideas (excuse the pun), but you should note that I have not said “you must organise it this way….x”.
  • Ben Adler: Put your about, contact, and legal pages in the footer. Generally, the main navigation is for the most important pages for the user. Most users want to ignore the pages mentioned
  • Oliver Harrison: Ben Adler I get your point However I really want to add About page and Contact page in the main e, alongside category pages of the Blog, does this kill the pyramid or the Ideal structure of a blog in terms of SEO?
  • Ben Adler: Oliver Harrison Is there a particular reason why you want t those on the main navigation? Either way I don`t think it will really affect seo.
  • Michael Martinez: Oliver Harrison There is no ideal structure of a blog in terms of SEO.
  • Oliver Harrison: Ben Adler thank you
