  • Josh Levenson: It`s neutral.

  • Tim Capper: Ideally you would want to interlink with a good anchor text. However Click Here like you would find on products, is normal and fine and not a problem.

  • Mandie Schug: Thanks. I did w website review of my website as I`m working on it and it flagged that particular issue as being a huge red flag for seo issues.

  • Perry Bernard: Mandie Schug the tool you used is probably not accurate, or may be mainly designed as an SEO sales tool. Red flagging of all “possible issues” is a common sales tactic. It’s actually quite common and normal and Ok to use click here as anchor text so long as where it’s placed is meaningful and useful for people. If other anchor text makes more sense, then it wouldn’t be ideal.

  • Mandie Schug: Perry Bernard thank you.

  • Rob Maas: That is the danger of tools

  • Michael Zittel: It`s fine, but if you can get a keyword in there, it is better. IE: Buy Product Name, etc.

  • Christine Hansen: As others mentioned, use a good link text instead. Besides `click here` is pleonastic - it would be the same as saying "sugar is sugary".

  • Rudolf Ladyzhenskii: Yeah, but one makes sites for customers to use, not search engines. Many customers have no idea what to do even if it says "Click Here" in large red letters I would usually write "Click here for XYZ" to try and satisfy both humans and robots

  • Christine Hansen: Rudolf Ladyzhenskii Now while I don`t know who your customers are, I don`t think one should think customers are dumb. There are many ways you can link between pages.

  • Ammon Johns: Christine Hansen 100% correct.

  • Ash Nallawalla: Have a variety of such anchor text - don`t go overboard on keywords in anchor text, particularly if you are putting the links on other websites.

  • Ammon Johns: Click here is an instruction that assumes the reader is a moron who doesn`t know how to use a browser, despite the fact they obviously used one to get to your page with a damn `click here` link. People don`t like to be assumed to be morons - most especially those that are damned close to it.

In CRO (Conversion Rate Optimization) the general rule is that where you must have an imperative link, it should focus on the benefit, or the deliverable, instead of the instruction for idiots. "Get the report", "Buy now", "Contact us", all clearly say what the user gets, what they can expect to happen, and that performs far better.

  • Rienzi Mosqueda: not able to understand anchor text ratio is worse than click here.
