  • PromozSEO: If there are any pages on the sub-domain, you want to appear on the SERP, then you should submit the sitemap and the robots.
Technically both are important, robots is an absolute necessary file.
  • Federico Sasso: (well behaved) bot traffic to a subdomain is regulated by the the subdomain robots.txt file, so if you want to block it, yes you should add a robots.txt file, but since you want them to be indexed you can safely skip it.

In most cases an xml sitemap is not needed. If your two pages are linked and accessible from your main domain, they'll be discovered by the search bots.

So: no, none of the two are strictly necessary.
