  • Dark Arts Guild: Here is a question about the description meta tag. If the word 'description' is spelled wrong will it affect a websites SEO? ;
  • Tony Wang: The description meta tag is not really useful for SEO, strictly speaking. It is not a ranking factor for Google. However, it is considered important because Google will show that description in the SERPs, which could certainly influence someone's click choice. If you miss-spell a tag, I imagine it won't be recognized.
  • PromozSEO: Google won't show the meta description tag text on SERP which may have very negative impacts on CTR. Even it may affect the ranking too.
    The question is why would anybody launch/run a site with misspelled meta 'description'?
  • David Arnold: There's also the clean code factor - Google doesn't like errors or spelling mistakes
  • Dark Arts Guild: Thank you all for the input. Not sure who originally did the website, but I was charged with reviewing to see what sort of SEO improvements could be made.
