How important is the `linked website` check mark next to the url?

In terms of Google+ Local listings, it is clear that the `verified` badge appears shortly after the pin is verified. How important is the `linked website` check mark next to the url?

  • Mike Stetzer: In our case, the "verified" badge appears on our product page, not our local page.

    1) Once verified, Google will aggregate your +1's:

    -The number of +1's on your brand page = the number of +1's to your website, +1's to that page specifically, and membership of Google+ communities. More +1's = bueno.

    2) Knowledge Panel for brand related queries. ;

    -Throw a rel="publisher" tag in the header of your site linking to your brand page on Google+ (NOT YOUR LOCAL PAGE... we made this mistake).

    3) Anyone out there can create a page with your brand. The verified check mark helps fight off anyone who might be trying to scam/harm your business.
  • James Gibbons: Understood the verified page part, asking about the 'linked website' checkmark.
  • Mike Stetzer: Must have misunderstood your question.

    Do you have a Local Page and a Brand Page? Or just a Local Page?
