Forwarding an old domain to a new domai

Hi everyone. I am starting a new business and re-purposing an existing website to a new domain. The URL`s are identical (except the domain name obviously). But what is currently the best practice for forwarding an old domain to a new domain?

  • VJ Thakur: I think if you have old website with good DA and TF then you need to be use 301 redirect
  • Wayne Davis: Thanks VJ Thakur I understand that, but I was wondering if, in the SEO world, there are best practices in relation to this. My current site has a good DA and backlink profile, and I want to retain as much of that as possible.
  • George G.: best practice is to redirect on page level 1:1. if the content is different, redirect the old pages to the most similar ones on your new site. do not redirect inner pages to the home if they are no relevant. if you have non relevant inner pages with no links poitning to them, let them 404 or 410.
