Michael Martinez: What you see in analytics is usually just the tip of the ice berg. While there isn`t much you can do to actually block the traffic fakers that target Google Analytics and other 3rd-party tools (they never touch your site), merely filtering them becomes problematic because they throw in so many different domains. You can try filtering by patterns but that is iffy. The worse problem is what they do to your site`s performance. I wrote a series of articles about this a few years ago.
