Does having 2 websites create any kind of negative effects on SEO?

  R.Gopi Krishna: hello people this time my doubt is on having 2 sites and its effects. i work for a BPO company who has got .co.in domain which is restricted to india (cctld) but now since we are planning to target other countries (for doing seo) we have planned to have another website with ; .org (which is a generic tld) ; with different content . Now the doubt is does having ; 2 websites creates any kind of negative effects on seo or gives some good effect. ?

  Tom McGuinness: Having unique content is critical, so that's a good start.
  
  If you're offering the same products/services then you're better off sticking with one site and localising it.
  
  That way the benefit of your off-site seo (inbound links, essentially) will accrue to both countries.
