Turning off e-commerce

Thanks for approving me! I started to work for a company that is turning off e-commerce and only using the where to buy button. It will be integrated with price finder tool so the visitor can find different sources on-line to buy or at a retail location. They are a very well know brand and branded organic traffic is quite nice, along with some non-branded search terms. Any thoughts on what will happen when turned off.

  • Alan Bleiweiss: Significant traffic fall-off, probably gradually over time, most likely. Unless that`s compensated for somehow.
  • Michael Stricker: What Alan said... Google likes pages to reach some form of conclusion, whether it`s a conversion, or links to deeper expertise or authority. A site that simply touts product or service descriptions will not present all of the expected structured content (price, availability, etc) and eventually be overtaken by sites that do.
  • Cindy Coughlin: We will have a tool called price spider that will bring up pricing, local sources, availability ( maybe) but links to other sites to purchase. so if understand you correctly we will be exposed because are having folks links off site.
  • Webado C Webada: You want to compete with Google`s own shopping tools?Good luck. Google likes to send searchers to the FINAL destination not a page from where you click t go elsewhere yet again.
