SEO for non dot com domai

I read about TLD and the most article was talking about .com as one of the best TLD to get for SEO if you want to rank high on search engines. This leaves me confused. What about if I have a client with a .tk will i still be able to rank his or her website above competitors with a .com

Tim van Iersel: Itâ€™s more of a trust issue with users. They will trust a .com domain more easily.

This could affect CTR, the time on site and websites linking to your website.
Tim van Iersel: To answer your question, Yes it is possible but it would be a bit harder to do so.
Rituraj Shrivastava: with .tk domain you will have a 90% chance to not rank above a TLD just because .tk domains are used widely for spam. Better get a TLD and 301 your .tk there so you can keep the Link equity and have a better shot at ranking your domain above your competitors.
Michael Martinez: .TK domains do just fine. Search engine optimization isn`t dependent upon TLD. That`s an old myth.
