Same content on two different domains

Hey Guys, If i have two sites, completely different domains one is a: .com.au (australian top level domain) .com (Google Search Console is targeting US) If i posted the same content on both and setup hreflang tags will the content still have the potential to rank in both locations or would i have duplicate content issues? Cheers!

  • Richard Hearne: So long as you set up HREFlang correctly I think you should be fine. Just note that HREFlang is not the same as GSC geotargeting, although there is some crossover between the 2. Using them both might work nicely.
  • Jimbo Jones: "If i posted the same content" --- intentionally creating duplicate content may in fact go wrong. Save yourself with the canonical tag if you mean something like "this article was first published on"
  • Jayasanker Jayakrishnan: i don`t see how hreflang tags makes any difference. both are english speaking countries.or am i missing a pun of australian having a different version of English.
  • Richard Hearne: Better to send AU users to your AU site than US? And vice-versa?
  • Jayasanker Jayakrishnan: okay i see. thanks
  • Jayasanker Jayakrishnan: Richard Hearne Hi, can you tell me the best way to inject JSONLD to appear in `people also ask` part of the SERP. someone else suggested a WP plugin - wordpress.org/plugins/head-footer-code/
  • Richard Hearne: PAA isn`t triggered by schema. You get these by answering questions related to entities. It`s not quite as straight-forward as just publishing content. But if you want to publish schema there are WP plugins for that alone. That plugin you link to appears to just be a way to add content to the head and foot using WP_enqueue API I think.
  • Jayasanker Jayakrishnan: okay. thanks Richard Hearne
