Question about backlink building

Question about backlink building:How effective is HARO as a tactic for backlink building? What dollar value would you put on each backlink you earn? Any metrics you use to track the performance? My company is looking to hire a backlink company. One company proposed that with 40 hours of HAROs, we can get 6-8 strong homepage links after the first few months. The company charges $2500 for this. Would like to hear from anyone who`s experienced with backlink building on whether this is a good investment and what best practice you recommend. Thanks!

Tim Capper: HARO is okay, but it all depends what journos are writing about at the time - if your "product" - "service" is not being written about at the time, there may not be any requests.

For that money you could get a great "senationalised" piece written that could be used by journos.
