I think I accidentally killed all my traffic within 2 weeks

Mayday guys! I think I accidentally killed all my traffic within 2 weeks because I removed the external sources hyperlinks. My site is medical and health related. If I am to re-link them now, will the traffic go up again? Where can I check if my rankings are the only thing affected or that the entire site has been penalised?
