Google still not showing my page descriptio

Hey guys, New to the group, and SEO in general- hoping the name of the group implies tolerance when it comes to basic (aka. dumb) questions :) I`ve added a meta description to my page, however Google is still showing alt tags when I enter my site URL. I signed up to Search console, verified my domain and can see that the site has been crawled but the meta description isn`t what appears when I enter the URL of my page directly into Google search. Am I missing something fundamental?

Lisa Brown: You can see they do have the correct one using the site:thecakekitchen.xyz command.

Unfortunately, you can`t stop Google from rewriting titles or meta descriptions. They don`t always change them but they will if they think it`s a better fit for the query.

Christine Hansen: @Nick. It also means that you can do better. Check what Google finds important and rewrite the meta or title accordingly (with your list of kws in hand).
