Google Stacking

Does `Google Stacking` work in terms of helping with ranking in SERPS? (I must be honest in that I hadn`t heard of this expression until a few days ago)

  • Alan Bleiweiss: Google stacking is not something you can readily, effortlessly work toward. If you create enough signal strength across the spectrum of SEO for enough pages on a site where those pages align with a specific search query, you may end up with several of your own results stacked in the search result set. Most people fail to realize however, that artificial methods, while potentially providing short or maybe even mid-term signal strength, more often than not inevitably lead to serious losses later on. Many also think doing this is worth the time and effort, when in reality, it is almost never worth it, because it takes so much effort and energy to push toward that you`re leaving a ton of opportunity missed in the process.
  • Alan Bleiweiss: FYI Google stacking is most often a result of brand related phrases. Since I have invested heavily for several years on crafting my own identity as a brand, I get a Google stack for specific phrases. And I did nothing special or unique or artificial to get it.
  • Neil Cheesman: I am not sure that is `google stacking as I `understand` it.. I believe it is getting links from Google entities... in fact I think it is also called "Google entity stacking`
  • Alan Bleiweiss: What is the point of getting many links from Google entities? For what market/industry/topical niche? How would those links be earned? By commenting in Google forums? Or on Google+?
  • Jim Munro: I think what you are describing used to be called "domain crowding", Neil Cheesman. In it`s early days, Google made it known that they were specifically addressing it to minimise it`s effect and they reduced it`s occurrence for a while but I do not understand why anyone thinks that the phenomena would be useful or worth the effort to study, users generally only click once. :)
  • Neil Cheesman: and I am NOT saying I want to do it.. I would just like to know about it...

  • Dan Thies: It`s the latest hustle.
  • Kristine Schachinger: The ability to stack is also dependent on the overall query results. Stacking indicates a weak SERP.
