Google showing ME the wrong domai

Google showing ME the wrong domain.

Years ago I switched domains and set up 301 redirects. All seemed fine.

But recently I noticed that Google is now serving me the old domain. But only when I`m logged in as me. If I`m in another account or anonymous, I get the right domain. Why am I getting this weird personalisation?

  • Suraj Gadage: +Tony McCreath Can you you check your search history and browsing history that's saved to your Google Account in My Activity? I'm speculating that you must have done search related to old website and probably even clicked on that result in the past. Now, if you see the search and/or browsing history related to old domain then delete it and see what happens.
  • ?ukasz Rogala: Have you tried redirecting domain in Google Search Console? About year ago I've asked +John Mueller about that and he said in Google Webmasters Hangout that "sometimes Google shows old URL for user-experience reasons".
  • Tony “Tiggerito” McCreath: +Suraj Gadage I did make some searches that had the old domain show up. I've tried deleting them but no change in the results yet. I like the idea so will continue playing to see if I can stop it happening.

+Łukasz Rogala I'm sure I did the GSC domain redirect if it was possible when I did the move.

The user-experience reasons also correlates with the idea that is it happening because I made searches specifically for that old domain.
  • Tony “Tiggerito” McCreath: I cleared cookies (and logged out) in the chrome browser and results returned to normal. Logging back in and the old domain returned.

I've tried to delete all search history related to my own website. Still getting the old domain, but I suspect there may be a delay in this sort of personalisation changing. I'll give it a day then get a bit more serious in my deleting.
  • Tony “Tiggerito” McCreath: Back to normal. So I suspect it was something in the account search history related to my domain, and it took a while for the personalisation to update after I deleted those searches.
