Do I need to use rel canonical for a translated page?

Do I need to use rel canonical for a translated page or it will have it`s own PageRank?I do not wish to translate my entire site as it`s too big. I only want to translate my most popular pages.

All pages should probably include a (preferably self-referencing) canonical tag, but if you are asking if you should canonicalise translations to a primary language the answer is a definite NO. When SEOs generally refer to canionicals, they do so meaning non-self-referencing (i.e. canonicalised) URLs.
