When a website changes from http to https

When a website changes from http to https - is there likely to be any effect regarding backlinks? (ie previously backlinks most likely to be to http) Should you leave those backlinks or reach out to people to ask to amend - or just leave it as the links will be redirected anyway?

  • Jody Nesbitt: yes, you would need to leave it running as it does the redirects, a better solution is something like Velvet Blues search and replace which will actually re-write the HTTP rules in the database fixing most of the issues, redirect errors also occur when using Cloudflare SSL`s
