Title tag for a icon class

  Brett Saltalamacchia: Hi, If I was to add a title tag to a icon class (<i class="" title="">) will this still benefit in terms of SEO? I haven't even really thought about adding a title tag to a icon class .
  
  What about an ALT? Would this be beneficial for non-images? ;

  Federico Sasso: Hi, as far as I know title attribute content is ignored by search engines, at least Google (not sure what you mean with "icon class", did you mean "italic tag"?).
  alt attribute only affects images, would be ignored for the rest.
