  • Mariam Shariff: Joe Coville thanks for getting back. IF I do go with this strategy if I search for the shorter domain it won`t always bring up my main optimized domain for eg it won`t come up on google business listing, so is this a recommended strategy for SEO? My client wants to market the shorter version however all SEO work is being undertaken on the full version of the domain name.

  • Perry Bernard: Group expertThis is not a good strategy for SEO but it may be a valid strategy for a marketing tactic on selected media, for example over radio where a simpler domain might be useful from a channel performance and measurement perspective. If you are concerned about SEO, promote the real domain.

  • MichaÅ‚ Borzyszkowski: Group expertFor marketing it is acceptable but remember you may lose some value of incoming links. If users will link to your shorter domain then even with 301 it is not certain that Google will transfer all the link signals.
