Some schema info gets double up on a page

Hi, schema question.I am working on a site with an events calendar that automatically generates some schema for events. I also have Rank Math installed as it`s options for schema are better. I cannot disable the event calendar schema. Is there an issue if some schema info gets double up on a page (eg basics of event name, date, time, price repeated)?

  • Casey Markee: Google is okay with duplicate structured data on a page because of use cases just like your own.

In this situation, Google will just find and parse the most complete and error-free set.

Years ago, in the recipe niche, we used to serve both Microdata and JSON-LD markup side-by-side while waiting for plugins to "catch-up."

It was fine then, it`s not an issue now.
  • Jason Chong: Casey Markee thanks, appreciate the insight
  • Richard Hearne: Does any of the data differ, or is it just that one block has the same data but more than the other?
  • Jason Chong: Richard Hearne one block has more data than the other. Any overlap should be consistent (though have picked up a couple of inconsistencies due to the plugin closings eg rankmath is setup to provide address in proper format whereas calendar plugin is delivering it as one single text line)
  • Richard Hearne: Those edge cases are very likely to prove problematic, but for the rest you might just need to wait and see.

Although you might not have a switch to turn off the calendar schema output, there may be a way to do so via a custom function. Maybe reach out to calendar plugin creator to ask if there is such a switch built-in which can be triggered by a function. Otherwise, maybe offer to pay someone to look into this?
