Dave Elliott: sign up for a service such as https://www.pingdom.com/ ; (there might be free things that do the same thing if you have a look round) or you can have a look through your Google analytics and set it to hourly(rather than weekly/monthly) and see if you notice any drop offs in traffic and compare it to another days traffic and see if this is normal or not.
Your hosting company may also be able to provide you with this information.
