  • Sanket Maheshwari: The answer is not NO. At the end of the day, any search engine would love to have more context regarding a non-text element. Does it help in any way? Maybe. Does it hurt to have? Definitely no. If you get a chance to add img description, go ahead and do it.

I hope my answer is understandable?

  • Gaston Sitbon: Yeah that`s what I was thinking but I`m already duplicating the ALT TEXT & TITLE so I`m just wondering if duplicating those other two blocks will add anything.

Also, is it hurtful in any way that I`m duplicating those two?

  • Sanket Maheshwari: Gaston Sitbon it is fine. It hardly makes any difference in real world, even if it`s hurtful (I doubt it), it would be the least hurtful thing to do. Also, duplicating Alt, Title, Caption, Description is okay.

That being said, I would personally prefer to target different sets of relevant keywords in all those attributes.

  • Gaston Sitbon: I just started doing that in a slight way (i.e. "Ethiopia Coffee" in one and "Ethiopian Coffee" in the other)

  • Richard Hearne: Captions are output in element, and is useful for SEO. Google will also use the URL - both filename and path - for image search.
