Jim Munro: This would apply only to your internal linking. ;

googlebot would record every link as absolute regardless of how you write it so I don't think it is a ;consideration.

Dave Elliott: I prefer relative as it is more future proof on the dev side of things. Basically if you change domain or go https they wont have to be recoded.
