Random drop in traffic

  Complete Trivia: We have seen a drop in traffic in the last few months (not that we ever have much!). We did change our front page from a single article with sidebars to a picture driven menu. We also redirected a dot com au domain to the completetrivia dot com site (which we used before but lost ownership of for a while). Is this more likely to be a random drop or is one of the above possibly a culprit that might be fixed? Any advice welcome of course - thanks

  Do you know what the .com.au site was used for when it was in someone else's hands? If it was bad enough to attract a penalty you should not redirect to the .com site.

  Tony “Tiggerito” McCreath: If you got rid of text (picture driven menu) you may have removed the information Google needs to work out what to rank you for.
  
  I would verify all the websites with the Google Search Console and look there for any issues they have.
  
  The Search Analytics report can also give you ideas on what sort of traffic you lost, and from that, what is your problem.

  Complete Trivia: Sorry to be so long saying thanks for your input, I lost track of time and lost my reference link. Was delighted however to see your answers waiting for me today in messages - lol! We will have a long think, do some research and make some changes I think. The dot com au site wasn't "bad" (likely to be penalised), but it wasn't trivia related either. The picture menu seems better for users but if they never find it in the first place... ; hmm back to the drawing board. Thanks again - will update after change.  ;
