Pageview data on 404 pages

Is it a good practice to send pageview data on 404 pages?Recently I found one of my clients has GTM container in their 404 template, and they fire pageview tag on all page. So, the 404 pages will also send pageview data to GA, I feel it`s helpful since I will know which 404 URLs has traffics. But is it any cons of this? Would it mess up data in some way? We generally should track 404 traffics using pageview tags? Let me know your thought or experiences, Thanks,
