Micro data as article markup

Are hentry microformat treated the same as article markup?Just done a crawl with screaming frog and realized it seems identified pages with hentry micro data as article markup, while in Goolge strucutred data testing tool will only recoganize hentry. I wonder should I put extra article markup in addition to hentry? or hentry will be enough? Let me know your thought or experiences, Thanks,

Michael Martinez: I think it depends on what you hope to get from the markup. In the past the hentry markup annoyed me and I removed it from many sites. That is probably due more to the way we organize our sites than anything else. I think we had incomplete markup.

The most important thing about any kind of special markup whether Schema or microformats is that you fill out the data completely and accurately for the pages that matter to you.
