Dumb SEO Questions

Our company was recently acquired by a larger company

Hello. Our company was recently acquired by a larger company and they want to start moving our highest-trafficked WordPress blog posts to the larger company`s Hubspot blog on a subdomain (with the goal of increasing traffic to the larger company`s blog). If I duplicate the blog content and put a canonical in place for the larger company`s URL, will the post on the new company`s blog assume the SEO juice that was built from it on our site? Or would it be better to redirect the original URL to the URL on the larger company site to maximize the SEO carryover? (Side note: The sites are not prepared to fully merge yet--both will continue to run for the time being. This is just the first step they want to take.) Any feedback or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

  • Michael Martinez: Your question isn`t simply about search optimization. You`ll want to consolidate the traffic on the two blogs as soon as possible. That simplifies tracking and measurement, as well as identifying potential new optimization targets.Redirect the old blog to the larger blog.
