One of our sites is struggling with page load time

Hey guys, One of our sites is struggling with page load time because home page is a 14mb behemoth. We`ve done all the basic things (compress, cache, better hosting, etc.) but this is no match for 33 plugins and mountains of content. Client has no interest in trimming the fat. I have seen sites like webspeedmaster promising 2 second load times, thoughts on how legit companies like these could be? If you know of a quality site-speed specialist I`d appreciate contact info.

Doc Sheldon: if the client is serious about their business, they need to lose at least 2/3 of those plugins and trim about 13MB off the homepage. That`s just ridiculous
