My bosses think adding a bunch of content alone will improve our rankings

I second guess myself a lot, so I want you guys to weight in before I take this to my bosses: I`ve posted in here a few times, I work on a giant e-commerce site selling seasonal items. I have the site running in Screaming Frog right now and although it`s only halfway through, here`s what it found so far: Duplicate title tags: 704; Duplicate H1s: 1, 556; Duplicate H2s 42, 617; 404 errors (found by Search Console): 10, 960 My bosses think adding a bunch of content alone will improve our rankings, but I disagree and think we need to address everything. Again, this is only 55% of the site, these numbers rise with every minute. Adding content without addressing this won`t be very effective, right?

  • Adam Durrant: Aubrey. It depends on the quality of this proposed content and the strategy you are implementing along with it. If you need help with that, read my recent post for some really good strategy to get back on track: http://trafficthat.co/8-ways-to-supercharge-ecommerce-seo/ If it were me, I would assess the importance of the pages with duplicates titles & h tags and make a call on priority before considering content production. You might be able to sell it to you r boss like this: Having your 🏠 in order will maximize the potential of your content production and subsequent link building. I`d then come to my 404`s last. Hope that helps!
