Looking for some advice on what to choose for the URL

Looking for some advice, insight or examples of multi-brand websites. Because of many reasons, the website is going to combine a bunch of brands. There will be a global navigation and then, if users choose, individual branded sub-navigations (if someone wants to navigate the site by sub-brand).Best advice on what to choose for the URL (since people can get to an article by global nav or by individual sub-brand nav, the URL would be domain.com/topic/article or domain.com/brand/topic/article. Thanks!

  • Michael Martinez: If the same article will be published under multiple brands I would go with Domain/Topic/Article and then canonicalize all Domain/Brand/Topic/Article URLs to the main one.

If each brand will publish unique content then I would go with Domain/Brand/Topic/Article (and I have already done this for 22 years with great success on my largest personal Website).
